6.Mount Agung Sunrise Trekking Tour via Besakih Temple

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 5 reviews · 12 - 16 hours · from $60

Meet near Besakih Temple for a guided overnight climb of Mount Agung, Bali’s highest peak. You’ll hike through jungle and steep volcanic terrain to reach the 3,032-meter summit around sunrise, then retrace your route. The private tour includes a guide, safety equipment, entrance fees, breakfast, and water. Bring warm, rainproof clothing, snacks, and sturdy hiking shoes.

“Firstly it was really difficult - I’ve run ultramarathons and have climbed one other 3,000m+ peak and this was up there in difficulty. Part of the challenge was not having the right equipment - you need a big bag to carry 3L+ of water and huge snack/lunch boxes. You could really do with specialist climbing/hiking shoes thatre good with slippy volcanic rock. And cold weather and rain protection gear is a must. The tour should do more to let you know about this before the trip.”
